1 LEWIS C S God in the dock
Eerdmans 1970 0802808689 / 9780802808684 Paperback
[Number in stock: 1]

The work of C. S. Lewis has been synonymous with modern Christian apologetics. Dubbed the apostle to skeptics, Lewis was a profound thinker with the rare ability to communicate the truths of the Christian faith in simple yet amazingly effective ways. Insightful, engaging, and often full of wit, his books are models of genuine Christianity expressed in brilliant contemporary prose.

God in the Dock contains forty-eight essays and twelve letters written by Lewis between 1940 and 1963. Ranging from popular newspaper pieces to learned defenses of the faith, these essays cover topics as varied as the logic of theism, good and evil, miracles, the role of women in the church, and ethics and politics. Many represent Lewis' first ventures into themes he would later treat in full-length books.

C. S. Lewis (1898-1963) was Professor of Medieval and Renaissance English Literature at Cambridge University, England. Among his many famous works are Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters, Miracles, The Abolition of Man, The Great Divorce, The Problem of Pain, Surprised by Joy, Pilgrim's Regress, and the Chronicles of Narnia volumes.

4 LEWIS C S Miracles
Harper Collins Publishing 1947 0006280943 / 9780006280941 Paperback
[Number in stock: 3]

Do miracles really happen? is a question which has dogged philosopher and researchers for centuries. In this moving and inspirational book, C. S. Lewis sets out with his characteristic warmth, lucidity and wit to demonstrate that miracles really are occurring all around us in our everyday lives.

'The central miracle asserted by Christians is the Incarnation. They say that God became Man. Every other miracle prepares the way for this, or results from this.' This is the key statement of Miracles, in which C. S. Lewis shows that a Christian must not only accept but rejoice in miracles as a testimony of the unique personal involvement of God in his creation. Using his characteristic lucidity and wit to develop his argument, Lewis challenges the rationalists and cynics who are mired in their lack of imagination and provides a poetic and joyous affirmation that miracles really fo occur in our everyday lives.
